Claraā€™s Birth Stories: Learning to Lean Into Trust and Innate Wisdom During Birth & Postpartum
Mar 28, 2023EPISODE 14 SHOW NOTES
I’m very honored to welcome another amazing guest, Clara Belize Wisner, onto the podcast today! Clara has been a dear friend of mine, as well as a mentor, for many years now. We were even pregnant together a few years ago; I was having my third baby, and she was having her first.
Clara Belize Wisner is a feminine bioenergetic nutritionist. She blends her knowledge and training around nutrition, cellular biology, and feminine physiology with her deep practice of spiritual feminine energetic principles. Clara is a teacher and embodiment of deep feminine nourishment. She knows that when women and mothers are well fed and nourished, the world is as well. Motherhood is her greatest practice, teacher, and her highest honor.
In today’s episode, we’re talking all about Clara's birth stories, and how she learned to lean into trust and innate wisdom during both birth and postpartum.
- The healing work Clara does to serve mothers as a feminine bioenergetic nutritionist. She believes that illness and disease originate in the unseen realms and only comes into the physical body as the last resort. Therefore, healing must occur on multiple levels and in multiple dimensions. Her expertise is in the areas of fertility, gut health, female hormonal health and physiology, as well as somatic parts work. She uses a bio-energetic, pro-metabolic framework blended with spiritual feminine energetic principles.
- Clara’s 1st pregnancy and birth experience. Clara ended up getting pregnant right away with her first daughter, Alma, and she was not fully prepared for that. She really had to slow down with her work, but she felt very supported during her entire pregnancy. She ended up going into labor at 37 weeks, 5 days; she had a very quick labor (which she again did not expect), and delivered her daughter at the local birth center.
- Clara’s 2nd pregnancy and birth experience. Clara became pregnant with her 2nd daughter, Maya, when she was only 6 months postpartum with her first daughter. She felt 'victimized' during the 1st trimester, even though she was excited to have another baby. Clara opted for a home birth this time, and her labor ended up being much longer and drawn out compared to her first.
- How Clara and her husband prepared for her postpartum experiences. Clara and her husband worked together to figure out everything that needed to be done around their home. They asked for help from other people (family, friends, etc.) during this time, and felt very prepared. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic hit right around the time Clara had her first baby, so that impacted a lot of their plans and support during the postpartum period.
- The variety of emotions that can occur during postpartum when adding another baby to your family. Adding another child to your family can really change the dynamic, and so many emotions come about. It doesn't mean that you love your first child any less, but there is like a 'taintedness' to the entire experience.
- The importance of preparing for a restful and nourishing postpartum period. Preparing for postpartum is almost more important than preparing for birth. You really want to be able to focus on regulating your nervous system, not only for yourself, but for your baby as well. One of the greatest gifts we can give our children is to do the work on ourselves, and figure out what we need.
Learning to lean into trust and innate wisdom during birth & postpartum is powerful, and necessary.
Clara’s birth stories are TRULY inspiring. They’re really a true testament to the importance of listening to your body, getting out of your head, and coming into your body to allow your birth to unfold in the way it is meant to.
The work Clara is doing for mothers and women everywhere is powerful, and much needed. After all, motherhood is really an opportunity for transformation, and can provide incredible healing. It’s a process of rebirth, and will transform us in ways we could never really imagine!
