EPISODE 15 SHOW NOTES

There is a great deal of focus when it comes to the physical, emotional, and even spiritual aspect regarding labor and birth. What I often see though is the mental aspect overlooked. If you’re not mentally prepared for what’s ahead, it will be much easier to succumb to the strong and intense moments that are coming.

In today’s episode, I’m talking about why your beliefs become your thoughts, and your thoughts become your words. I’m also diving into 5 ways to mentally prepare for natural labor, because you WILL be pushed to your limits, and experience those tough, challenging moments.

5 ways to mentally prepare for natural labor.

  1.  Surround yourself with positive birth stories and positive people. It's really important to 'build your village', because you really are what and WHO you surround yourself with.
  2.  Face your fears. If you're holding on to deep-rooted fears and beliefs about natural childbirth, they will show up as mental blocks that will hold power over you. I want to encourage you to write down/journal what these are for you-get them out of your head and down on paper!
  3. Be educated and informed on the true physiology of your body so you can learn to trust in your body and in birth. You can do this in a variety of ways-childbirth education courses (I have a phenomenal one if you didn't know!), podcasts, listening to birth stories, Facebook support groups, prenatal yoga classes, mom groups, and more. The more educated and informed you are regarding the positive aspects of birth, the more you'll be able to put your mind at ease.
  4. Utilize tools and resources to help distract your mind. Some of my favorites that I recommend are yoga (or any kind of movement that helps you get into and really feel comfortable in your body),  visualization, mantras, music, dancing, and head-to-toe embodiment.
  5. Shift the way in which you believe about yourself and birth. This step kind of brings all of the other steps together and is vital! Ultimately, you have to come inward, really get to know yourself, and positively shift your deep-rooted beliefs surrounding labor and birth.

Shifting your mindset and finding helpful ways to mentally prepare for natural labor really is key.

As you're preparing for birth, I really want you to find yourself anchoring into emotions like love, excitement, joy, trust, and even faith. It’s normal to have a whole spectrum of emotions, but when you’re able to rest in a state of a higher vibration as you're preparing for birth, you’ll really be guided into the birth that you're manifesting.

All of this is why I help moms and families really dig into their deep-rooted fears and reframe their beliefs about labor and birth in my natural childbirth education course. If this is something you need support with, I’d love for you to check it out so you CAN have the positive, empowered birth experience you’re desiring!
